The graph shows the percentage of households with internet access in four countries between 1995 and 2020. Overall, Country P recorded a dramatic late surge that took it from one of the lowest levels of access to the highest by the end of the period, surpassing Country M, which had led for most of the period but whose growth slowed as it neared saturation; Country O, meanwhile, consistently lagged behind the other three. In 1995, access levels were low across all four countries, ranging from just one percent in Country O to five percent in Country M. Over the following fifteen years, Country M expanded rapidly to reach sixty-five percent by 2010, while Country N followed a similar upward path to reach forty percent. Country P also grew during this period but remained behind the leaders, at thirty-five percent in 2010, and Country O trailed furthest behind at just eighteen percent. The picture changed considerably after 2010. Country M's growth slowed markedly, rising by just twenty-three percentage points to reach eighty-eight percent by 2020, whereas Country P accelerated sharply, climbing from thirty-five percent to ninety-two percent over the same nine years and surpassing Country M in the process. Country N also grew quickly in this period, narrowing the gap with Country M to reach eighty-five percent by 2020, just short of the leader. Country O continued to grow at a modest pace throughout, reaching just forty-five percent by 2020, roughly half the level of the top three countries.
