The table shows how urban, suburban and rural households in Country Z allocated their monthly income across six spending categories in 2023. Overall, housing took up a progressively smaller share of income moving from urban to suburban to rural areas, while food showed the opposite pattern; suburban households generally fell between the other two groups. Housing accounted for thirty-two percent of urban household income, falling to twenty-five percent for suburban households and just eighteen percent for rural households. Food followed the reverse pattern, rising steadily from eighteen percent of urban income to twenty-two percent for suburban households and thirty percent for rural households — the largest single category for that group. Rural households also devoted a larger share of income to transport and healthcare than the other two groups, at fifteen percent and twelve percent respectively, both exceeding the urban and suburban figures. Savings was highest among suburban households, at twenty-one percent of income, slightly above the nineteen percent recorded for urban households and seventeen percent for rural households.
